Building a MP5(a clone of course)
Has anyone built a MP5 from parts kits? I would guess its similar to building a AR in a sense. Granted the parts are quite a bit more expensive than AR parts and I know I will probably spend more in the long run buying it piece by piece.
But has anyone gone this route? Thanks

Built plenty of AR's, but never a MP5.
I think to put one together from a parts kit, you need to do some welding."One must be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves” ~ Machiavelli

I would imagine the most expensive thing is going to be the pre 86 receiver. The difference in cost of a gun built my a manufacturer and one build up on that receiver isn't going to be much.

The build I am considering would start on a this
'Receiver - This is a US made premium receiver. It is laser welded closed with the sight base, scope tab, hanger, and paddle release installed. This is the best receiver available on the market and is ready for parts to be installed' <<<<From here:

already pre-folded and welded, just add parts
I was leaning towards building piece by piece cause I can't outright buy a SBR clone, but there are complete 'pistol' versions available but contain to many non-compliant parts and I would have to spend more swapping to make SBR 922r 'legal'

I was under the impression you were building a FA not a SBR therefore my reference to pre 86.
