Colt LE line easily obtainable to gen'l public?
Ok...I got the AR bug and lusting for a LE6920. First question is should I expect any difficulties getting my hands on one being as I am not LE? Second, any recommended retailers in the Pitt area? Or should I just find a decent price online and ask my local FFL to get it for me? Thanks!

It is my understanding that Colt is NOT selling their "AR" line to the civilian market as they are able to sell everything that they build to LE & military customers. I an definitely not an AR guru so other can weigh in as well. The one really nice thing about ARs is that their are many very good vendors selling a boad product line.

No. Some of the LE Supply houses won't but retailers will sell them to the public. Colt doesn't "want" them sold commercially but you don't need a badge to buy one.

Re: Colt LE line easily obtainable to gen'l public?
actually,, its not a WANT or dont from Colt, its a CAN'T.
its part of thier MA bailout agreement that they will not sell "assault weapons" to the public.
ever wondered why they started making "match target" that dont say AR-15 on them, and had no FH or bayolug...all WELL before the 1994 AW ban?
wonder why ALL "AR-15" marked rifles are LE/Mil/Export marked, and not available in general sale?
the 1992 Massachusetts bailout of Colts money woes, and thier legal and binding agreement with that state.
thats why.

Very easy to obtain.
According to the CEO/President of colt they are interested in selling to the commercial market but the majority of their production capacity is being used to fill government contracts. At least that is what he said in the interview in the December issue of Small Arms Review.

Re: Colt LE line easily obtainable to gen'l public?
Look again! Thanks for reminding to update my profile. A factor in my decision to get one was....now I can!! Was lucky to escape the Peoples Republic of CA. Actually it's a pretty cool state...well parts of it anyway...but not L.A. It's the legislators that are the problem...thus stupid gun laws.
