Default JHP in a compact 1911

Ok, I've been carrying FMJs in my Micro Compact since I picked it up at the end of summer mainly because I know they will feed (and several hundred have been fired confirming this). I know a JHP would offer better performance ... however I'm also aware that the 3" barrel 1911's are very finicky with feeding of JHPs. So ... what has worked well for most of you in this platform? I don't have a ton of extra cash to try a box of everything, so if I could narrow things down to 2 or 3 varieties to try.

    Thanks!

Hydra Shoks work well in mine. I've also shot Gold Dots and Starfires without problem.

The trick with the smaller 1911's is to make sure things are slick and all the spring rates are right. You want to make sure your mag springs are up to snuff and that feed ramp is smooth. Extractor tension is also very important. Too much can be as bad as too little.

I taught Chuck Norris to bump-fire.

If you are concerned about feeding, consider Corbon Pow'rball. It is a polymer nosed round that feeds like FMJ with performance of HPs.

If your gun will digest it, I suggest Corbon DPX.

    Hello,
+1 for what RLS suggests. My Ultra Carry feeds Gold Dots well, but it is always carried with Power Balls or Glaser Safety slugs. That way I am sure it will feed.
The downside is CorBons are harder to find than Gold Dots and Glaser's are even harder to find.

Hydra Shoks work well in mine, as well as Hornady TAP 230gr's.
