Default NightGuard or RedHawk Alaskan in .44?

I decided that it's time I bought a revolver. I have a range/nightstand pistol that I love (M&P9) and a carry gun that I bought just recently and really enjoy (CW9). now the revolver doesn't necessarily have to serve a purpose other than I want one and want one that's big bore since I don't have anything like that. I know that it'll be expensive to shoot but if I'm short on funds I'll just shoot my 10/22. So anybody who has experiences good or bad with either revolver who would like to share to try n sway my decision I'm all ears.

I would take the Smith in .357. 8 rounds should be sufficient for the middle of the night.

I handled a Nightguard .44 Special at Taylor's Trading Post last month~wonderful piece but expensive. If you want a big-bore revolver why are you limiting yourself to these two specialty guns? Ruger & Smith make other great quality big-bore revolvers that are less expensive, lets you spend the difference on ammo

I'll be going along with the .357 Mag suggestion, too. If you feel like beating yourself up a little, a few cylinders of potent magnum loads will get you there. Short on funds? Plink on brother (!) with some cheapo .38 specials. Smith and Ruger make great .357 Mags in almost any flavor. I'd suggest a 4 inch model of your chosing, just in case you wanna lug it around the woods or conceal it in the winter. If I could have any current production .357-- a Smith R8 would suffice for around a grand......

    Opinions, opinions........

the 329 is an aluminum framed 44 magnum....which is just fine if you plan on carrying it.....not so much if you plan on shooting more than carrying it.
i would consider one of the blued steel or polished stainless steel versions for a non carried 44.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

I'd be looking at a Smith in .357/.38. It's THE revolver chambering, and it gives you options, plus it gives you the ability to shoot on a budget.

Another option could be .45 acp. Smith and Wesson make a few. It's not exactly budget shooting, but it's cheaper that shooting .44, especially if you don't reload (I'm assuming).

Me personally, I'd get the Alaskan - but in .454 Casull flavor. I like the unfluted cylinders.
