I put in my paperwork November 19, so I am in the same boat as you.

Have they contacted your references yet? I am in touch with both of my references daily, and neither have been contacted. One of them applied the same day as me, and the other says his took 3 months. Another friend told me his took about 5-6 weeks, around the end of Summer sometime.

It takes 8 weeks and they've been really bad about sending letters notifying people that it's ready.

Wait eight weeks then go down to the tracking unit to ask about status (first thing in the morning is best. I think it opens at either 8:00 or 8:30; I can't remember). When you do that eight weeks after application, it will be ready.

Don't bother waiting for the letter. Seems they never come. Don't pester them before the 8 weeks.

How can they get away with eight weeks instead of the statutory 45 days? You tell me. I don't know either.

On the bright side, it used to take over six months.

well i do know that everyone i know that got their permit, did not have any of their references contacted.... the city has thousands of background investigations to do and i guess calling all the references is just not possible... it is an absolute joke at how long this process takes but doesn't surprise me since this is philly were talking about !

oh and btw when i was in there getting the paper work and prints done, one woman told me it took 6-8 weeks and the other said 8-10 weeks , so they dont even know whats going on !

I put in my paperwork on October 12....no permit yet.....

No references contacted. They told me 8-10 weeks...oh well...maybe it's time to take a ride downtown.

so why is no one doing anything about philly blatantly thumbing their nose at the law? Surely there is an attorney somewhere on here that would like to smack some sense into the cheif and file a suit.
