FFL in D.C.
Seems that DC's one and only FFL has lost his lease.
DC is just a city...why can't the residents buy guns at any MD shop?

Re: FFL in D.C.
A MD or VA purchase is fine for long guns, but it doesn't work for handguns, which must be purchased or transferred at an FFL in the state of residence. Presumably for the purposes of firearms law (and most other laws predicated on residency), DC is considered a 'state', so no FFL's in DC means no handguns for sale to the residents of DC.
Tin foil hat time -- we all know the city government of DC hates guns. The Heller decision overturned their handgun ban. However, they instituted other laws to make getting a gun prohibitively difficult. If they can successfully run all the FFL's out of town by making it prohibitively expensive to operate, they have effectively banned handgun purchases. They can accomplish via economics what they cannot accomplish legislatively. I wonder why he lost his lease? Something smells fishy here. And, of course, the zoning laws are probably such that he can't work out of his home.

What a coincidence...."we just happen to have this nice office space available...right next to the gun registration office."
FFL may operate out of MPD HQ
