Semi-auto MP-38s & MP-44s from Canada's Marstar
Tripped over this in Marstar's web site:
Marstar Canada is proud to present the North American debut of the all-new WWII pattern Wehrmacht semi-automatic firearms.
Manufactured in Germany by Sport Systeme Dittrich (aka. 'SSD'), all are newly made reproductions which recreate the WWII originals in exacting detail with one significant difference: their designs incorporate fire control groups (bolts, trigger mechanisms, sears, etc) which are incapable of automatic fire, not interchangeable with, and not compatible with full-auto parts. Make no mistake: as these firearms are newly manufactured 'semi-automatic only' reproductions which visually resemble but do not function as 'machine guns' they are not prohibited and may be purchased by Canadians who have a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence for Restricted firearms.
These 'semi-auto Wehrmacht weapons' offer a unique opportunity for non-grandfathered collectors to acquire and own some of the most famous firearms of WWII in spite of their ineligibility to own 'converted auto' firearms. As these are not 'prohibited long arms' they may also be transported to and from approved target ranges just like any handgun (under the owner's 'Authorization to Transport' aka. 'ATT': contact your CFO at 800-731-4000 for further details). Militaria exhibitors and living history re-enactors with a valid ATT finally have the ability to take WWII pattern 'semi-auto only' versions of the MP-38, MP-44, and MP-3008 to collectors' shows and 'WWII re-enactment' events!
If you've always wanted to own one of these famous firearms we urge you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to do so: our advice is to get 'em while we've got 'em!
These historic German made semi-autos are the finest civilian ownable examples of their type available anywhere in the world - we guarantee it!
BD-42(H) ( new mfg. semi-auto Mkb-42(H) )
This is the one that started it all, the grand daddy of the modern "assault rifle". The Mkb-42(H) which was made in very limited numbers (less than 7,500) making it one of the rarest military weapons of WW-II..
BD-38 (new mfg. semi-auto MP-38)
Finally: a 'semi-automatic only' version of the quintessential Euorpean submachine gun of WWII can now be yours! All components manufactured to exacting specifications to resemble the original machinenpistole in every detail including reproduction markings. The bakelite grips and stock are even produced by the same company who supplied the original parts during WWII.
BD-44 (new mfg. semi-auto MP-44)
Collectors and re-enactors rejoice: a highly detailed reproduction of the world's first truly modern 'assault rifle' can now be yours in a 'semi-automatic only' version which can be purchased with a 'restricted' P.A.L. Built every bit as well as the rare and expensive originals, even the welds, tool marks, and finishing on the drop-forged components are faithfully reproduced!
BD-3008 (new mfg. semi-auto MP-3008)
Now militaria enthusiasts and re-enactors can finally complete their collections with a 'semi-automatic only' version of the extremely rare MP-3008 developed for and issued to the Volkssturm in a last ditch effort to defend nazi Germany during the dying days of the third reich.Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"

Pretty neat.
Pretty confused as to why they would re-create a weapon (the MP-44) in the original (and very hard to find) 7.92 caliber though. Seems destined to failure because of that fact alone. The $2,995 (Canadian Dollars) price doesn't help either.Guns are good.

Funny how much cheaper FA guns are when the supply is not finite.

Re: Semi-auto MP-38s & MP-44s from Canada's Marstar
Those are not full auto - semi only. Current - dealer and gov't only "post sample" FA guns are dirt cheap; as there is little demand.
Anyway, if we can't get the Norinco-made bolt-action .22LR "Kar-98" rifles imported from Canada - I doubt we could get these. Like they .22LR K98 - not sporty enough...

Exactly what I said. It's a pity shame what we have to pay for NFA in this country thanks to the May 86 and GCA of 68.
