This is why I haven't really OC'd yet.. I hate to admit, but I'm completely apprehensive about it !

I plan on doing things in baby steps. I've started doing what I call 'loose CC'. I wear my paddle type Serpa with a loose shirt just hanging over it. If it gets seen, it gets seen, but it's not completely concealed either.

So far that's been working to take some of the apprehension out of it.

Heh, I had the G19 and AR-15 in the trunk. My PM9 is my EDC. I do have a crossbreed supertuck for the G19 and occasionally carry it. Not the AR though... :-)

With an untucked, unbuttoned dress shirt over a t-shirt or something? Not a bad idea...

I normally conceal with just a loose t-shirt as that's plenty with the PM9 in an IWB CB minituck. I have a Serpa for the G19 and that would certainly not work with just a t-shirt though. It would be pretty darn obvious.

I do it with big tshirts, ones that just hang loose. What does it matter if it's obvious? Most people will disregard bulges under clothing as a cell phone or pager or something else. Most people won't even give a glace, it's just when it's out in the open people suddenly notice.

I do carry a G19 in the Serpa, and it's a little big, but still manageable.

First time out in the big show can cause a bit of stage fright.

Rep for your candor... I'm sure your anxiety will ebb.

//heh, heh... see what I did there?

Good point... especially as the purpose is to get more used to the idea of carrying an exposed gun.

While this is possible... I seriously doubt it! LOL

If you were closer, I'd say to come hang out with me and we'll OC together. It's MUCH easier to get accustomed to the feeling when you're with someone who is used to doing it regularly.

However, good job on your first OC - rep inbound, mostly for making me LOL. Just like everyone is saying, calm down. You will never get a 'women screaming and running from the store, children crying and men beating their chests' reaction like the Brady Bunch would like to convince you will happen. Your sidearm is another tool, just like your phone or your flashlight. Keep your SA up and you'll be gravy.

    Relax.

That is really all the advice I could give. I'll admit, it was a strange feeling the first time I OC'd. After a few more trips, you won't even think anything of it. Honestly, it isn't that I forget that I am OCing, I am just so used to it. I don't think of it as anything "odd". I have had to take a moment to register why I have gotten the stink eye before.
I'm so fast, I can bump fire a bolt action.
