Default What's wrong with my CZ82?

I have had my CZ82 for a little while now and love it. It is very accurate and I've never had a mis-fire, mis-feed, etc.. I am having one problem though. I rack the slide and it is ready to go, but after the first shot, it will not go single action, rather stays double action. Then randomly it will go single action, then back to double action - very annoying ! I thought maybe the recoil spring so I changed it out with a 16 lb and same thing. Went back to a 14.5 lb and no difference. What else can cause this ? I am thinking maybe ammo? I have only used Silver Bear 120 grain hp's so far - could ammo cause this ? Any help would be appreciated !

Pay the money and try Hornady XTP

    Features:
    High Performance Hornady Bullets
All Hornady Custom pistol ammo is loaded with either the famous Hornady XTP (Extreme Terminal Performance) bullet, our fully-encapsulated FMJ or our new FTX bullet. All are supremely accurate, and deliver maximum knockdown power.

    Select Cases
Hornady produces most of the brass for Hornady Custom pistol ammo. All other brass is chosen to ensure it meets our unusually high standards for reliable feeding, corrosion resistance, proper hardness and the ability to withstand maximum chamber pressures.

    Powder
Each cartridge is loaded to ensure optimal pressure, velocity and consistency from lot to lot.

    Primers
Like the powder, each primer is carefully matched to individual loads, and specifically selected for their ability to quickly, completely, and reliably ignite the powder charge.

Depending on the caliber, Hornady handgun ammunition is loaded with Hornady XTP, FMJ-RN, XTP Mag, FTX or FP-XTP bullets.

Does the double action only occur without the slide or just when firing?

I don't see how this is likely to be an ammo-related issue?

Without being intimately familiar with the innards of the CZ-82, I would guess that it's something wrong w/ the hammer/sear interface, no?

    Bones

Not sure I understand. When firing, it's a crap shoot wether it returns to single action or double action. Just not sure what would cause this.

Yeah, I honestly doubt it's the ammo, just not sure what would cause an automatic to do this?

Not home at the moment but pardon my ignorance but how would you check to see if it cycles correctly dry firing - wouldnt it need to fire to produce the blowback to do that?

Dry fire it (try it while starting out from both a SA and from a DA pull), but after you pull the trigger, keep holding the trigger the the rear while cycling the slide.

Let us know if the hammer "follows" the slide forward (thus reverting back to DA).

    Bones

No matter what I do when I dry fire, it returns to single action. If i rack the slide, it goes single action. If I pull the trigger in double action, hold the trigger back and rack the slide, it goes single action. Everything works perfectly. But when I start live firing, it shoots a few and returns to double action, then returns one or two to single action, then goes back to double action, etc.. Thanks !
