Default All new! Kimber Ultra RCP

No sights. No real hammer. No Beavertail. Schwartz system. Reduced size safety.

Anybody else not impressed at all with the wunder pistol from Kimber? I read a few magazines about how this is the perfect carry pistol, and kimber has done the world a favor by offering this pistol. I disagree.

I like my Ultra Carry. I removed the series 2 crap after it locked on my because I made a shot around a barrior with the pistol nearly horizontal. Screw THAT on a SD pistol. I'm upgrading the sights to XS soon, not REMOVING them! The hammer is vital if you are a fan of the second strike capability (like me). While I didnt want the ambi safety, I definatly sought out a larger safety paddle. Want to make sure its where I need it to be!

I think nearly everything different about this pistol has made it less usefull for carry. The "melting" is a non-issue. There is no point.

of course this is all my opinion on this new gun. Your thoughts?

and to boot, it MSRP at a little over $1200.

No sights? What's the thinking behind that?

This picture is the first I've seen of this gun, and it does NOTHING for me at all. It would seem that for Kimber 1911 fans, the Ultra Carry would be a better alternative.

This seems to be an attempt to compete with the Springfield EMP.

In place of sights, it has a trough running the length of the slide and you line up the trough on your target and shoot away. Not for competition, more of a carry gun. 7+1 with a 3 inch barrel, I'd like to try one...Mike45

Thanks. Interesting concept, I would like to try one and see how well it works. Very smooth so no snaging on anything. Seems quite modern.

All the price is high this gun is definitely worth it. I am not A Kimber employee only a fan. I bought the gun becuase I always thought they were interesting from the first time they came out with them (This is second generation) Anyhow I own perhpas 15 carry guns (Don't ask - Its an Addiction) anyhow the KIMBER ULTRA RCP is by far my favorite. Its the best to carry, Fun as hell to shoot and YES the trough needs some getting used to but I got mine down to be ALMOST as accurate as the ones with sights (As accurate a a 3" .45 can be anyhow) This is an excellent gun and I can not say enough about it. I love it, If you get the chance to try it out do so, I gaurantee your opion changes. Anyhow, Just though I'd put my $.02 in. Thanks

Second strike on a single action? How does that work?

Colt also released a gun like that. Colt's New Agent is a Defender type 1911 with no real sights, just a channel milled in the slide. I guess for ultra close situations it would be good, but for that kind of money I would like a gun that works in just about any situation you can think of, even if that means longer range shots in low light conditions. I'll take a set of night sights any day.

The first strike is when the hammer falls and the gun fails to go off. The second strike is when you kick the guy in the nutz and run like hell.
