    John,

This is a rifle only event. You will be told how at the match how much to load into your mags. This is a once through match meaning you will be shooting the course by yourself.

This is unlike our traditional matches where we shoot 20 at at time. Feel free to email me at lastdefender@aol.com with any additional questions and I'd be happy to answer them.

    Gary

How far will we be shooting? Are 17 round mags sufficient?

17 is way too many. I will try to post additional details this week.

I mean mags that hold 17 rounds, not 17 magazines. Actually I only have two.

That COF looks awesome! I'm thinking it will require more than two mags. What are your recommendations for the number of mags?

You will need more than two 17 round mags. I would suggest a minimum of 4-5. You will loose precious time if you have to reload a mag to finish the course.

It will definitely require more than 2 magazines. My personal average for this match is about 4 magazines, but I usually take 5 just in case. One of the things that I like about this match is, with exception for the steel targets, the competitor decides how many rounds to fire at each target before moving on to the next target. The absolute minimum for each target would be 2 shots, however most people fire 3-5 per target.

What rifle/carbine are you using that only uses 17 round magazines?

To answer some other questions in the thread...

For this match we do highly recommend bringing fully loaded 30 round magazines. Most people bring 3-4 magazines, but I've seen people carrying as many as 6. All we ask is that you not use the drum type magazines.

All directions (i.e. right hand, left hand, etc.) are for a right handed competitor and will be the opposite for a left handed competitor.

Actually its my fiance that I'm worried about. I have an AR15 with plenty of mags. She has a CX4 Storm 9mm carbine with two 17 round mags. The 200 yard shots will be a stretch for that gun, I know. I'm also unsure if she will be able to do weak side (or "reaction" side) shooting with it. The ejection port might be too far back. I'll have to check it out tonight and see if we can make it work. If not, maybe she can just borrow my AR15.

I may have 1 or 2 magazines for the Beretta 92 that she may be able to use (if I can find them). They are not from Beretta so I can't say they'll definitely work or not.

Thanks, but this one takes the PX4 mags, not the 92 mags. We'll figure something out.
