Default First real OC in public

OK, this probably doesn't count, but I went to the Valley Forge Gun Show on Saturday with my wife. I don't normally OC or CC, but I figured that was the best place to OC and not really feel nervous.

Walked into the convention hall and all weapons must be rendered "unfireable". I knew this going in and left the 2 mags I carry for my Beretta M9 in the car. The gentleman at the front table took my weapon after I place it on the table and ran a wire-tie through it to make it safe. It was given back and I re-holstered it. All while an Upper Marion Officer watched. For me that was a little nerve-racking as I'm still getting used to OC and even CC. Wasn't sure if he was judging me or not. He just kinda looked and nodded.

Like I said, I really and new to carrying either way, but I was still nervous OC in a place full of weapons. My nervousness came from the fact that I didn't see to many attendees actually carrying. I thought that would have been the perfect place to exercise that right.

I'm sure there were plenty of CC, but how would I know that? I was looking around all day and don't think I saw one other OC'er in there. I'm sure there were...

Either way, it was a good feeling wearing my Beretta out in the open and in a place where I wouldn't get dirty looks or people freaking out. Baby steps...

    Well, its a start anyways.

Next , try OC'ing at a fast food place or gas station.
    Then work up from there.

Once you see that people dont really notice, you will OC everywhere.

Actually I think the real challenge is dealing with my wife. She isn't thrilled when it comes to guns and questions why I would want to carry one in the first place. Where we live it isn't exactly all that dangerous.

Exactly. 99% or more people don't even notice the pistol on your hip.

Great another person just out there flaunting their gun like they're some big shot. I just started to OC myself this past week. Welcome aboard

just because you think you live in a safe area doesnt mean it is. there are bad people everywhere, could even be the guy next door and you dont even know it. or just some asshole from another area driving through and decides this is a nice area to rob or rape someone. never let your guard down. back to your post, i was at the split rock show last week and didnt see anyone oc either.

That's where I stopped reading. Hope you enjoyed the gun show, and glad you are carrying more.
