Thumbs down Even the manufacturer's FAIL the clip vs magazine terms

I was in my local shop the other day picking up some stuff I ordered and browsing around and my eyes just about popped out of my head when I saw a this on the rack of magazines !

Seems even the damn manufacturer's cant get it right ! No wonder so many new shooters screw it up !

    It's such a common term.

I'm to the point where I don't care. I mean really WHY DO YOU CARE.

I call it a mag, but all the gun shops I go to, all the police officers I know, both CHL instructors I know, and pretty much every gun owner I know says clip most of the time. I don't care to correct them/ I mean who gives a shit right? When I was really into cars on the internet people would get all uptight about "wheels vs rims"

I guess I care because the use of improper terminology is IMHO a sign of a lazy mind or ignorance( lack of knowledge). Its one thing if someone legitimately doesnt know or understand the difference. Its a whole nother thing when people know and choose to do so anyway.

And you can see it everywhere in life. A wrench and a socket wrench both serve the same function in a different way and with a different design, but if Im working on my truck and ask for a wrench when I need a socket wrench, its my fault for using the wrong term. Its a pet peeve of mine ok ? Not to mention the fact that as often as it comes up, I thought it was funny to see that package on the rack for sale.

You think that's bad? Now they are talking about high capacity gun ammo. Yes, high capacity AMMO!

That's a Marlin product I see. My guess (since they call it both a "clip" and a "magazine" on the packaging) is that they're trying to make new shooters feel comfortable with their purchase; trying to make sure the terminology isn't intimidating. Maybe Gramps just bought the grandson his first .22 and told Dad (who isn't into guns) to go and buy another "clip" for it. Dad walks into the store not knowing what the hell he's looking for but sees that package and thinks "Aha, here it is!). I mean I'm just speculating obviously but I really don't see the big deal. Old timers have been saying "clip" for decades and if they get the younger generation calling it that too, so be it. As long as they're getting the younger generation involved in shooting to begin with. THAT is what really matters IMO.
