This guy is not having a good day and i don't blame him. He bought a ATI 1911 and he shares his experience with ATI. He also refers to a PA gun shop
American Arms
808 Bethlehem Pike # B, PA (215) 997-8010.

Re: ATI Rant
I see this as ATIs responsibility to correct under whatever warranty they offer, not really AA&Ammos responsibility to correct ATIs poor handling of the equipment failure... and ATI dropped the ball here, hard.
Having been a customer of the people who own AA&A from when they were working at "Dons Guns" (Fred) in the late 80s into the 90s, then When they were with Archery& Gun Outfitters (Fred, Ken, PJ,) thru the rest of the 90s into the early 2000s, then with Fred, PJ and Ken as American Arms & Ammo thru current, those guys will bend over backwards to make ya happy.
but then, i've only been dealing with those guys near 23yrs... what do i know
I agree on shit guns, but then, i've also bought 3 kimbers that turned out to be utter garbage too. Kimber fixed em, and i sold em off.Last edited by JayBell; March 25th, 2011 at 06:09 PM.

Re: ATI Rant
I could tell he was from Philly before he made that comment about running across "The Blvd."
I clearly see that the pistol is not in working condition and that customer service failed him. One gets what one pay for, every single time. A 1911 of that size is going to cost a grand or so for a good one, pay 400 and change and get much less.
The only free cheese is in a mouse trap.
I second the motion that the retailer has nothing to do with the faulty product. Far too often I read about people going back to the place they bought the firearm from to complain, this is not logical. Sure, many times dealers offer to send it back (which is normally done by calling customer service and getting a free shipping label, which anyone can do) but this furthers the misunderstanding that the retailer is somehow supposed to do this. As for the retailer not making a deal on the malfunctioning weapon, I do not blame them. You bought it, you deal with it.
To all neophytes out there, a 400+ dollar 1911 is not the best idea for a firearm purchase... ever. 400 bucks is about the cost (just a little bit more by about 30 bucks) for a case of .45 ACP ammunition. That should bring it into perspective.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: ATI Rant
i don't know anything about the ATI 1911's but i wouldn't condemn them based on the experience of one person. you can get a decent 1911 for around 400 bucks and i remember when the SA GI 1911's first came out a few years ago and while they were no frills they worked, of course as they gained popularity SA raised the price on them so they were no longer a bargain. rock island arsenal makes a good no frills 1911 for around 400 bucks and i think charles daly imported some 1911's from isreal that were pretty good guns at reasonable prices.
unfortunately guns are a lot different than TV sets when it comes to returning them to the store for a refund or exchange. very few gunshops will allow the return of a new firearm if there's an issue with it and most shops hav signs that say all sales are final. new guns should be returned to the manufacturer for repair or replacement but some folks think gunshops are like best buy or walmart where they can simply return it. i've only bought one gun from american arms and ammo and i was more than satisfied with the deal and i've always only heard great things about them.Last edited by wellcraft; March 25th, 2011 at 08:54 PM.

Re: ATI Rant
There are a bunch of products that really can't be returned for resale to others. If a retailer takes back a gun, or food, or ammunition, or underwear, or prescription drugs, or anything else that is either "new" or "potentially dangerous & icky", then they take a loss on it if they can't send it back to the wholesaler or manufacturer as "defective".
I wouldn't buy ammo that had been previously purchased by some random consumer. I don't buy reloaded ammo, I want to have recourse if a defective round kills my gun. And there are idiots out there who will "customize" and "improve" their gun, then after their Dremel trigger job turns the thing into a bomb, they want to send it back.
I don't know the details, and kudos if it's been happily resolved, but the guys at American Arms and Ammo are some of the nicest guys in the gun biz. There will always be consumers whose demands are outrageous, and there are certainly businesses with terrible customer service; so when a consumer screams about poor service, it helps to figure out the history on the consumer and the business. If it were Clayton's or Target World, I'd assume the consumer was right, based on many, many stories and personal experiences with their piss-poor attitude and policies. If it's AA&A, I assume the consumer is wrong.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com
