Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
Yes, it seemed like a high price. I sent the problem to the manufacturer, too. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks for your advice and I welcome more.

Hi
Not that it justifies the price, but I forgo to mention that it's a milled receiver and that it has Russian red full stock.

Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
you suure do a lot of cleaning on that thing. I dont remember ever cleaning my romanian sar i payed 250 for (10 years ago) more than twice since i owned it. about 3-4000 rounds through it total. I never clean it. You guys that are having malfunctions and thinking cleaning has anything to do with it or that not cleaning it would contribute to any type of failure or just making excuses for bad parts somewhere

Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
For what it's worth, Lancaster Arms Website lists: AK 47 Milled Rec. Russian Red Stock MSRP $899.
As for your problem, I would just replace the recoil spring and possibly get recoil buffer. In actuality you probably arent going to hurt that milled receiver much, and a buffer would likely prevent the cosmetic damage you are getting.
The spring and buffer combined should be under $30 shipped.
I wouldn't bother sending it back, they're just going to change the spring.
If that doesn't work, you will probably have to look at adjusting the gas port, which you will likely need a gunsmith for.

Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
Thanks. That's what I'll probably do, since they're living up to their good customer service by not answering 2 emails and a voice mail. Would it do any good to turn the guy in who distributes their guns for charging such a high price? Probably not. I may demand a new spring, bolt carrier and receiver for the trouble. A complaint to the Better Business Bureau is next and I found it very satisfying in the past. Companies so far have responded rapidly to it. As you can see from my receipt, avoid the guy I bought it from. If you ever see him at a gun show he's in a wheelchair.

Whoops. I didn't send along the receipt. I bought it from All American Gun Shop, 350 Dudek Road, Williamsport, PA 17701-9636, phone (570)322-7541.
He was at the Harrisburg Gun Show, Sept 11, 2010.

Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
Sorry to overload the forum, but I don't think that the attachment went through, so here's the article. It's worth reading. When I've had vendors ignore my emails, when I complain to the BBB, wham, the next day they respond like magic!
The article is in the NYT (I hate that paper) from March 12,2011.
‘Complaint Resolved’? Well, Not Exactly

Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
A buffer is not a solution. Do not install one.
That is not how these rifles were designed to work.
All you do is reduce the amount of space the bolt carrier has to dissapate recoil energy.
Making it hit sooner with more force. And thinking a little piece of polyurethane somehow magically absorbs all of that energy.
It doesn't. It sends it right back into your shoulder through the stock increasing felt recoil.

Re: Lancaster Arms AK-47 damage
if the gun was to have a buffer, there would be one there now, there is not.
add on buffers do not fix problems, they move them somewhere else.it's only metal, we can out think it....
