Man Charged With Beating 4-Year-Old To Death

A 23-year-old South Jersey man appeared in court Thursday on charges in connection with killing his 4-year-old son.

Joseph Deneal II, of 100 New Road, Somers Point, N.J., allegedly beat his son on Monday. Medical workers were unable to revive the unresponsive boy after they received a 911 call.

The unidentified boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"I don't know what when wrong," Deneal said in court Thursday.

Those were the few words spoken by Deneal as he was arraigned on manslaughter charges in connection with the death of his son.

An autopsy performed by Atlantic County Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park revealed the child died of multiple blunt force trauma and the death was ruled a homicide.

Prosecutors won't say when they think Deneal inflicted the fatal beating or if they suspect him of abusing his son at any other point.

The child's mother was not in court Thursday.

No one answered at Deneal's apartment Thursday afternoon.

According to court documents, Deneal has two previous convictions for aggravated assault but the prosecutor's office would not comment on those cases.

Deneal is being held on $250,000 cash bail.

I hate these stories. It is sickening to see the brutality that people perpetrate on children. He deserves the death penalty, but of course won't get it. His type is truly the lowest form of life on this earth.
