buying a gun
Is there any tax on a gun when you buy it or is the price on the tag the final price?

Re: buying a gun
Sales tax is added just like anything else you buy. I wish guns were sales tax free but not here.

Re: buying a gun
It depends where you are buying the firearm. If you are inside the county of Philadelphia I believe the sales tax is 8%, outside of the county is 6% if I recall correctly.

Re: buying a gun
I hope you are not a troll being that this is your first post and all, but I will play along nice.
Sales tax is 8% in Philly and 6% in the rest of the state. However, included in the price you see on a gun the 11% federal tax has already been added in.

Doesn't Allegheny county still have an extra 1% sales tax?

Huh what? Nice shady first topic....
Well if you aren't a troll, here is a peice of advice....If you like guns, you live in the wrong part of the state...
Nothing against Philly as a whole, but its policians and police are more corrupt than the police in the prohibition era....

Re: buying a gun
Yes when you buy a Gun you are Paying 17% in taxes , the dealers and the distributors pass on the ATF taxes to the end buyer.
that is why ATF only allows you to build one Gun per year for personal use, they would be missing out on all that money.
