Question about gun serial numbers...
Can I use my serial number to find out when I purchased the gun ? Can I use it to find out an approximate selling value ? Other suggestions or directions ?

Re: Question about gun serial numbers...
I would think the only thing you would find out is when it was manufactured and maybe what store(or maybe only the state) it was shipped to...
If you can find out the year it was manufactured and you know the condition you can get yourself a blue book for guns and get a ballpark on a price...

Re: Question about gun serial numbers...
Depending on the make of the gun you may be able to call and they will give you the date it was manufactured. However, some gun makers will want you to submit the question in writing.
Once you get the manufacture date it may help determine the value. The Blue Book of Gun Values is one of the best. If yoy don't know someone with a copy, be sneeky, go to Barnes & Noble (they typically will have one or more copies for sale) and look it up real quick.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member
