XDm Problems...need help
Whats up...
I have a full size XDm .40 that continues to have the same jamming/feeding problem. I've tried several different types of ammunition and several magazines and the problem continues to happen. I can't figure out whats causing the issue because its not consistent with any ammo or magazine. The pictures might describe this better than I can but the round is not seating in the extractor/base and getting stuck halfway into the chamber. I can't feel any rough spots and the chamber is cleaner than it ever will be. The problem is that it might happen with a round and then when I use that same round in the same magazine it might feed properly. No repetition. Any advice is appreciated since this is my primary duty weapon and I need it back in service ASAP. Like I said, it doesn't seem to be the ammunition or magazines. Thanks in advance.

Re: XDm Problems...need help
are you limp wristing it?, i know it may sound silly, but if it is not the Ammo, or the Mags, with everything running properly, even when re-using that round, and nothing noticeable in the weapon, it may just be that?
No clue on my end to be honest, just a thought i had.
ETA: .40s&w in a 4" and under barrel is snappy for my wrists, and will go all wacky if not supported enough for me.Last edited by Shadow Heart; March 14th, 2011 at 02:40 PM.

Re: XDm Problems...need help
Looking at the pictures though, it seems like the round is getting caught up on the hood. Maybe there's something wrong with the hood? Also those looked like hollowpoints, maybe they are the problem?

Re: XDm Problems...need help
Let someone else shoot it!!! You will want to attempt to eliminate yourself as a variable to find out the root cause. Go to the range with a friends or ask the guy in the next lane to try out your XDm. If the same problem continues, call Springfield Armory and tell them about the problem.

Re: XDm Problems...need help
FCR- I have a glock and i'll pass..thanks for the attempt though
I have used both fmj and hollowpoints and both rounds create the same problem. Its not a limp wrist. Others have shot my weapon. The magazines are factory. The round is not catching on the hood but about half way down the chamber. Basically it's not getting stuck on anything in the barrel but something is preventing it from making a smooth transition. This is why i'm starting to think its something that has to do with the extractor. I spoke with a gunsmith and he mentioned that guns that have this problem usually need some work on the extractor. We'll see what he has to say when I get it to him.Vietnam jungle boots

Re: XDm Problems...need help
My guess is limp wristing. I had my brother in law shoot my XDM and it did the same exact thing last year when he was trying to shoot. It has never given me a single failure and I know that he got rid of his HK USP because of "failures". I would definately let someone else try to fire the gun.

Re: XDm Problems...need help
Like everyone else said, you may be limp-wristing it.. Try to eliminate that from the equation first, and go from there...
