Default 2 Sets of Furniture 1 WASR

I picked up a WASR a few weeks ago from Duhnam's for pretty cheap, and my brother decided to replace the terrible plywood furniture it came with, with some synthetic tacticool furniture. I thought it actually looked a lot better than the crap that came on it. Then, my brother decided to stain and refinish the original crappy plywood furniture Russian red. Now I think the wood furniture looks 100% better than the synthetic stuff. Thoughts?

Doesn't even look like the same gun does it?

Tacticool looking AK's can look nice, but the original wood looks is always the best.

The top is like sticking rusty nails in my eyes.

If you are going to do synthetic furniture. Use the REAL synthetic AK furniture. That stuff looks like ass.

    The wood looks 100x better.

If dunhams stained all their wood furniture like that then they could (and probably would) sell the entire rifle for a "premium" price. i think the wood looks great...

In my opinion the "Plywood" stock looks the best, unstained. AK's are meant to be ugly

even just clear shellac does wonders on them. iirc that's what the oem finish was.

I really like the red. I just finished a 91/30 with minwax red mahogany and it looks more like red oak. not the look I was aiming for. What is the "Russian Red" used to stain it?

If you had to resort to bashing in a skull with it, do you think that foldy-adjusty thing on the back will be up to the task?

Personally, I like wood and steel, but the plastic can be useful too. (like up front, for mounting a light)

Believe it or not, but that "Russian Red" is actually just red food coloring. I'm planning on posting a tutorial on how I finished the wood
