    Default Shot Ruger LC9 Today

Took my new Ruger LC9 to the range today. Before I begin, I am a very average pistol shooter and normally CC in a pocket holster a G-36 or a Kahr PM9. I needed about 25 rounds (FED AE 115 FMJ) to adjust to the long trigger pull. Once I was comfortable with the trigger my shots usually went where I was aiming. At 7 yds on average 6 rounds out of 10 were in the 3" oval. The other rounds scored 7-9. At 10 yds 5 out of 10 in the same oval. The rest of the rounds 7-9. The recoil was very manageable with no surprises. I shot 100 rounds with no problems. The LC9 is easy to take-down for cleaning, however you must use their tool/key or a 1/16" punch tool. The three dot sight system is easy to use and align after each round. The 7 round magazine with grip extension is very comfortable in my small hand. Overall, I am very happy with my initial firing of the LC9.

Glad you like it and it functioned well. How was the recoil compared to your KHAR?

Hi, the Kahr PM9 has a less recoil than the LC9. Overall the PM9 is a better pistol, but the LC9 will be in the rotation for my pocket carry needs.

Trigger reset? As long as the Kahr? Or worse? (If that's possible)

Why? Seems like the better pistol should get the nod?

The trigger reset on the LC9 is longer than the Kahr PM9. My guess would be at least 1/8" longer.

Why can't Ruger's engineers design a semi auto pistol that doesn't have some overly complicated disassembly/reassembly procedure or requires special tools?

Picked up mine yesterday at a Allentown gun show with a out the door price of $390. Cleaned it, then tried to dry fire it and nothing happened. Hammer went back but didn't break. Broke it down again and tried to fire with slide off weapon. Hammer went forward without any problem. Reassembled weapon and dry fired with out a problem. I can only guess that something wasn't lined up properly. Took a quick trip to the range and fired 25rds with no failures of any kind. Don't know what was keeping weapon from dry firing but any suggestions would be helpful in case it happens again.
