    Firstly, Fuck ar15.com

Secondly, I have no red-dot sight, just irons, but I am picking up some tritium jawns so I thought I'd throw that out there for another option if you're on the fence about getting something electronic.

It's a term guys from Philly use to describe pretty much anything. If it's a noun, they call it a jawn. I used to be in a National Guard unit from Philly and that term grated my fucking nerves. Most of the guys would no joke use it every goddamn sentence.

Topsykretts - Don't take this the wrong way... But as soon as I hear the word 'jawn,' I write off whoever is saying it as a complete toolbag. Spelling it out is 100x worse. I'm only saying this to help you in the long run. Outside of Philly, the rest of the world pretty much thinks it sounds retarded.

I was saying it satirically. I've had an interesting night listening to other people say it in my travels to and from south philly.

How rude of me. I bashed you on your word usage in your thread and forgot to at least answer your question in the OP.

I have an EOTech on my AR. This is obviously more than $100. Well worth it though IMO. However, on my GSG-5, I have a Barska red dot that I actually really, really like. It holds a zero well, looks good IMO, and has several different reticle options. I don't know how it would hold up on a rifle bigger than .22lr though. I did read the reviews on Amazon and most of them were pretty bad, so maybe I just got lucky? I paid about $50 for it.

EDIT: I thought Topsykretts was the OP. I'm all kinds of miscombobulated.

Anything you can buy for $100 max.

It WILL break (Barska, UTG, Sight-X, BSA, etc.), and then you will be out THAT $100, and it'll only be ANOTHER $100 extra you have to save towards a REAL optic.

Aimpoint, Trijicon, EOTech. Pinch your pennies 'til they SCREAM, if necessary, but save up for those red dots which have been PROVEN to work under duress, and you won't be left hanging when you NEED your optic to work.

NO one ever regrets QUALITY glass. Look for used ones even, on this, and other gunboards. I have an Aimpoint Comp M2 with QRP mount I bought on another board for $250, only because the guy was moving and desperate for the cash. GOOD glass can be found cheaply, but CHEAP glass is ALWAYS more expensive in the long run.

i think your best bet is to go with something from primary arms since i've heard nothing but good things about their scopes. i don't have anything against aimpoint, acog, eotech but for shooting at paper i don't want to spend 500 - 1000 bucks on optics. i'd rather spend 500 dollars on another firearm before i spent it on optics unless i was deploying to afghanistan or iraq. i own two eotechs and just paid 320 bucks for a burris 332 but i also have a cheap red dot that i paid about 60 bucks for that's still running strong on one of my AR's after 5 years and several hundred rounds.
