Very nice, I have a dealers special 686 with the same front sight as yours, and also a 7 shot. Love it just a little harder to find speed loaders. I thought a blued version of the 686 was a 586? whats the difference in your 386?

386 would be an aluminum framed version of them.

The "3" in front of the x86 denotes a scandium alloy frame which is very light weight. The 586 is a carbon steel frame which weighs about the same as the stainless version. The 386 should be about 45% lighter than a 586 or 686.

You're right Steve, it is Scandium (with a stainless barrell). The 686 weighs in at 45 oz., and the 386 weighs in at 30 oz. I was at the Valley Forge gun show a few weeks ago and held them side to side. The difference in weight was like night and day. Im heading to Harrisburg area today and am going to put about 100 rounds through it. Looking forward to it!

it's something on par of 0.10-0.50% scandium, the rest aluminum.
sc is powerful stuff, a little bit goes a long in increasing some properties of al.

Very nice, I just picked up a used 586 today. I also can't wait to hit the range, but mines closed till Tuesday, having a hard time finding 357 mags though, Gander didn't have a single box, had to settle for 38's for now.

I wanted to pick up some 357s when I bought the gun but they were out too!! Just shot 38s yesterday, but it's better than nothing. Haha. Going to try and get some 357s for next weekend
