If you could choose one of these 1911's, Which one would you chose?
I want to get a 1911. At first I was thinking about getting an aluminum ultra but now I'm going to get a steel full size. I narrowed it down to two choice.
Which would you choose and why?
1.http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/custom-ii/royal-ii
2.http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/cu.../custom-tle-ii
I'm leaning more towards the Custom TLE II. Then I'm probably put some different grips on it.Last edited by LarryD1130; March 4th, 2011 at 12:41 PM.

I'd go with the TLE because of the night sights.

Other than the glow dots on the sights I didn't see any difference between the TLE and the regular Custom 2. So I bought the Custom 2 brand new for $596 @ Sept. '07 and put the money I saved into crimson trace grips.
I figured in low light situations the laser is quick on target and intimidating in of itself so pulling the triger might be avoided.
But, since you asked which of the two I vote TLE.

The front strap is checkered on the TLE. The price difference more than makes up for that alone.

Yeah I'll probably get the TLE II and buy some new grips for it.

The TLE is sexy imo.
I bought the http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/ta...actical-pro-ii and a pair of crimson trace grips to carry. Plan to carry it or more a range/competition? Have any other 1911s? I dumped my glock 34 moments after firing my dad's Springfield Trophy Match for the first time. Grip contour and angle are awesome right? 100 years old.
PS: Are you ordering it? If you have solid plans to go with laser grips ordering it with right handed single side safety and you'll save $40 bucks down the road.Last edited by Policraticus; March 4th, 2011 at 09:48 PM.

I went this route with a custom order http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/ta...tical-ultra-ii
Then managed to find a Clackamus Custom Classic.
I vote TLE for what it's worth. Get some good leather and you'll be set.

I vote for the TLE11. I have a KIMBER Ultra Carry11 it came with the
synthetic grips.I didn't think i would lie them at first, but really do.Night
sights are awesome.Did you try looking on gunbroker.com they have alot of

full size 1911 is the right way to get started. they can be carried in good gear, don't skimp on leather/kydex.
mini 1911s are for when you get tired of your pants falling down. Currently have a Kimber UC II in a cross breed super tuck and I don't even feel it.
Good luck and shoot the hell out of them all!
