Default Ankle Holsters in general and for the Ruger LCR

I'd love to carry my LCR as a BUG but am hesitant to buy an ankle holster; I've just got too many holster mistakes in the box. The LCR being hammer less makes retention an issue since there isnt anything for a strap to cling to then I would think that if you didn't have a strap around the top of the calf with the holster hanging from that strap then strapped again at the ankle it wouldn't stay in place very well.

Anybody have experience with ankle holsters, particularly for the Ruger LCR?

I found these options but each, in my mind has a shortcoming as described above.

I just picked up a used rgrizzle holster from another forum. It is an IWB, which I was unsure of based on other experiences, but I really like it with the LCR. The gun's weight is fantastic - as you know - so in a quality holster, it is very comfortable to carry. I give the RGrizzle two thumbs up! That is my experience - FWIW.

    Good luck!

Desantis Apache seems pretty good. I've had at least 4 of these and have worn them 12 hrs and longer with no discomfort.

Lou Alessi makes a good one but the desantis is my choice at about a quarter of the cost of Lou's.

search ankle holsters on this forum and you'll get a plethora of ideas.

I don't have a Ruger but the P9 Covert fits quite well.

I always have good things to say about the Galco Ankle Glove that I carry my Colt Pony in. It's well made and the sheepskin-backed "elastic" band makes for comfortable all day carry.

Can't help with info on that particular handgun though.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Thanks all for your input. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Optics Planet version of this one http://www.fobusholster.com/products...R-6511-46.html
their shipping is free, their price is best and they've been a good supplier to me.

I'm making that choice because of the retention issue of a hammer less gun, it appears that is well addressed in that holster for the particular gun model.
