Default Point-Aim-Move Station of the New Army Combat Readiness Test

    See here: http://www.army.mil/-news/2011/02/28...-fitness-test/

For the combat fitness test, I was wondering what's the point-aim-move station (see below)? My guess is that the soldier will be aiming his/her rifle fitted with laser beam emitter at the E-type target, keeping the laser strike on the target, while moving through the W-shape course as fast as possible. This will probably assess the soldier's dynamic balance, as well as upper extremity stability.

Using laser emitter to train stability during moving and shooting has been proposed as an effective training method by Kyle Lamb (author of "Green Eyes and Black Rifles: Warriors Guide to the Combat Carbine") if I remember correctly. This will allow you to train stability in living room, kitchen, and etc.

Default Re: Point-Aim-Move Station of the New Army Combat Readiness Test

    Update:

    Here's set of pictures:http://www.flickr.com/photos/initial...7626056827103/

    And a news article: http://www.stripes.com/news/stars-an...-test-1.136357

I thought the Point-Aim-Move station (see below) would be more challenging, i.e.the soldier will be aiming his/her rifle fitted with laser beam emitter at a 4-in circle on the E-type target, keeping the laser strike on the target, while moving through the W-shape course as fast as possible. But it looked like they didn't care where the soldier was aiming at in the pictures (no laser emitter on the rifle). Without controlling the aiming, that station is more of a challenge of agility but less of balance.

By the way, this looks quite similar to VTAC's zig-zag drill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q55MHk8Q-2E). See how stable these guys are! I can barely see any vertical movement of their center of mass.
