The above post confuses me. You want to carry a 45 but don't want bullets in it can kill? Throw the gun at someone if you don't want to kill them.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Try some martial arts training or some pepper spray. Leave rubber bullets to the riot police.

Lot's of companies make frangible rounds for training, but you should never carry anything but the best for SD.
You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

.45 is more lethal than some but not as lethal than others hope that helps
