Re: responsible gun owners?
Kind of hard to discharge a Glock unless you squeeze the trigger. Still, I think all handguns should have a safety on them and that's why I don't chamber a round in my Glock 17 or Ruger LCP until I'm ready to use it.

Re: responsible gun owners?
One guy had a ND, then his child got a hold of it and the man was responsible for a second ND.
Let's see - three other people in the house, two NDs - that makes for a grand total of...
SIX COUNTS OF RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AND FOUR COUNTS OF ENDANGERING A CHILD
I'm amazed this did not happen.Last edited by ViperGTS19801; March 1st, 2011 at 10:57 AM.

Re: responsible gun owners?
Basic gun handling one o one don't put your finger on the trigger until ready
to shoot.I can't imagine a gun bouncing around my glove compartment without
being in a holster.Just can't fix stupid.

Re: responsible gun owners?
He was walking to the house when he tripped and fell. The gun discharged, and he was hit in the leg just above the knee, he told police.
I doubt he wanted to shoot himself. So I guess his dad never told him to keep his finger off the trigger unless the gun positively points at what he wants to shoot.

Re: responsible gun owners?
I think the main guy was irresponsible, and his irresponsibility DID endanger his child by being a moron.
Why didn't he secure the firearm after he had been shot?
How did he NOT see his young kid come to get the gun, or attempt to stop him/her?
I'm sure it was an accident (I'll assume it was) but holy crap...how dumb can you be?
My guns are ALWAYS either in a safe/lock-box, or in a holster on my person. My finger is never on the trigger unless I want to shoot whatever is on the other end of the barrel, because even if a particular pistol has a safety my revolvers don't and bad habits = injury or death.
Wouldn't be surprised if this guy had an armful of crap he was taking in, and the trigger got pulled because he was being CARELESS with his firearm.
My dad drilled into all of us that guns are venomous snakes, and they WANT to bite you. When you're careless is when they strike.
