Default Desert Eagle 1911 Good or bad

I want to start carrying them in the shop but I want to make sure it's worth it before I do. Magnum Research produces good quality firearms but this is their first attempt at a 1911 platform. If you've shot one let me know what you think.

I am looking forward to getting a range report about these pistols too. These pistols are made by BUL in Israel and have been taking a beating by critics. They were supposed to make pistols for Charles Daly and cancelled the contract. We shall see what comes from them shortly.

Looks interesting. The msrp is $799, not bad if it turns out to be a reliable shooter.

We have one at the range I work at on the rental side. It's not a bad 1911 for the price. They should be had for around the $500 mark. From what I can tell it's not made by Magnum Research but rather some other company and imported by MR. Ours has taken a pretty good beating. The only thing I've noticed so far is that if it's not lubes well it returns in slo mo to battery.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

well I got to answer my own question. A customer of mine brought one into the shop today. He had a govt model and I was very impressed. The machining and overall fit and feel of the gun was very impressive. I'm not real crazy about the rear sight though. It has a swirl pattern to it and it would take some getting used to. I fired 2 mags through it one off hand and one using a pistol rest just to get an idea of the accuracy and it was very accurate off of the rest. off hand wasn't so as good because my eyes were kind of drawn to the pattern on the rear sight but still pretty tight. I ordered some and for the price and quality they should fly off the shelf.

I have one and I tell you it's terrific. VERY accurate right out of the box and the best part is the trigger. It's so smooth and precise that it makes me a better shooter.

I did paint the sights--as one member wrote, it's tough to sight with pure black sights. I took some krylon orange flourescent and it's made all the difference. Here's what it looks like:

It's a beautiful, well built pistol, made by Bul Transmark LTD of Israel. Quality parts, many features found on more expensive 1911s. I'm a convert!

In case you're wondering, the grips are rattlesnake. The gun cost me $655 including shipping and FFL. It's truly a bargain at that price.
