Walther PPK 32 acp from Father-in-Law's estate
I have a Walther PPK 7.65 mm (32ACP). I think it is from the time of WWII, but I'm not sure. The marking on left side says Waffenfabrik Walther Zeila Mahlis (Thur). The serial number is 371198K. Can anyone help ID the approximate age. I have looked at some sites that have pictures and the only difference I see with the modern PPK's is the shape of the muzzle. Mine has an indentation in the slide just below the muzzle. Also the clip is flat on the bottom without the protursion shown on new clips.

On the right side of the frame and on the side of the chamber (sometimes visible through the ejection port), there will be a proof mark. A crown over N proof is pre 1939, an eagle over N is post 1939. Can't help you closer than that.

Thanks imashooter. Mine has the crown over an N. The condition is not so good. There are no pits or serious flaws, but the bluing is largely gone. I have not fired it, but everything seems to work OK. I will have it looked at by a gunsmith if I decide to try it.

They're pretty stout little guns for the relatively mild pressures generated by the .32 ACP. Have it checked, but it is most likely mechanically sound and cosmetically challenged.

I have a pre 1939 my Father brought back from WW-II. Works like a champ and quite accurate.
Ammo produced in the States doesn't develop the higher pressures as does the Euro stuff.
Unless it has some noticeable defect I'd shoot it.
