    Default GSG-5PK (SBR)

I know somebody will complain about spending $200 on the stamp to SBR this but oh well, I know that as much as the kids and I shoot, I'll save that much in ammo by plinking with .22LR over my other ammo.

The stamp only took 2 months and it was approved on Valentines Day. Thank you Mrs. Pickles!!!

This is the pistol. It now has a forward grip and folding stock. She also has a laser for when shooting with the stock folded and she has a co-witness red dot.

Ah, one other thing I forgot to mention... Orion Arms did a great job with the engraving of the trust. Quick turnaround and very clean work. You can see it on the receiver (under the rear sight) in the top picture.

Next up on my SBR list is to put an original 10" Suomi barrel and shroud on my Suomi K31.

I briefly entertained the thought of SBRing a .22 pistol. I got all kinds of grief from people, the most prevalent comment being, "it's just a toy". They are all toys, beyond our SD guns and hunting guns. My response was that if I really needed an SBR for social problems, I probably would not be concerned with sending in and asking for permission by that point, as society would be collapsing, and there would be no one in charge anyway.

Nice gun. I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Sweet gun! I love the MP5 style guns, and this one looks just right. Some useful accessories, but not overly tacti-cool.

I've thought about SBR'ing a 22, and if I did it would be one like this. I don't think it's stupid to pay the tax on a 22, and I'm sure after taking a look at the thing no one is going to give you a hard time about it. And just think, the cost of that gun plus the tax is still half of buying the same style gun in 9mm, and the ammo is cheaper too. If all you're doing is putting holes in paper (or plinking), who cares what caliber it is.

Now my only question is, when will you be putting a suppressor on the end of it? Do the GSG's even have threaded barrels, or do they need an adapter?

Im going to use your comment, but im not picking on you.
I have seen many people on different forums post something like your comment.
    So I have a question.
When society collapses and no one is in charge, how do you plan on getting the parts for an SBR? Doubt the intraweb will still be up, let alone payment options. Sure, its nothing a hack saw cant fix for some weapons.

Same goes for full auto comments. Do you plan on buying auto bolts and auto fire control groups ahead of time?
Im not an idiot asking how or where to get parts and do home made conversions.
    Just something i have wondered.

Again Pennsy, not picking on you directly.

    end hi-jack

The GSG5's need a thread adpater. The PK barrels are threaded, the P version front sight base is threaded. The Ps are not the best idea to try and put a can on due to the thread location, its not on the barrel. So you risk a baffle strike on your can.
SwarfWorks and hotgunparts.com both have adapters for both versions.

No worries Nate. An SBR is a short barreled rifle - essentially a pistol length shoulder fired weapon. As you have already mentioned, the only part one really needs is a hacksaw and some time. I do not advocate this as it is against the law, and I would not do it as long as the law is in effect. It certainly is not the sort of thing I would contemplate even in a Katrina like situation where the gub'mint is still in power, but just caught with their pants down. No, I am talking post apocalypse (assuming I am still here of course).

Full auto is pretty much a waste of ammunition for the vast majority of situations. It will be even more so in a collapse situation, as ammo will become very scarce very quickly. Even the military has gone to 3 round burst selectors. In the event described above (post apocalypse), ammo will be scarce. But even so, the knowledge to build a full auto gun and the tools to build it often reside in just about any metal working shop you care to enter. All they need is some direction and some specs.

To be honest, I think that in a post apocalyptic situation, the lowly .22 LR will become the gun to own. They are small, light, accurate, and one can carry a lot of ammo for one compared to just about anything else. They are good for just about any kind of hunting, and can deter two legged predators as well, especially when that predator knows there is no advanced medical care to be had if he or she gets shot.

    This.owns.bones.

The only reason I'd buy a GSG is to SBR it.

That being said my only change would be the old school MP5 PDW stock instead of the one you have on there. It's your gun though. Either way, the thing still rocks, and I'm jealous.
