Default Carrying a long gun in a vehicle with a LTCF?

Hi everyone. I just got my License to Carry firearms about two hours ago. So to put it lightly, I'm happy!

Now I have a question regarding the permit which the Sheriff's office did not answer clearly. Now that I have a License to Carry firearms, does that mean that I can also transport a long gun in my vehicle at any time and not simply when going to and from the range?

Furthermore, can I keep my long gun in my vehicle loaded?

If someone could answer the above, i would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

You can not have a loaded rifle in a vehicle.

§6106.1. Carrying Loaded Weapons Other Than Firearms.

    (a) General rule.—Except as provided in Title 34 (relating to game), no person shall carry a loaded pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle, other than a firearm as defined in section 6102 (relating to definitions), in any vehicle The provisions of this section shall not apply to persons excepted from the requirement of a license to carry firearms under section 6106(b)( 1), (2), (5) or (6) (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license) nor shall the provisions of this section be construed to permit persons to carry firearms in a vehicle where such conduct is prohibited by section 6106.

    (b) Penalty.—A person who violates the provisions of this section commits a summary offense.
§6102. Definitions. "Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.

The LTCF has no bearing on long arms.

You can carry an unloaded rifle in your car, regardless of your destination, with no LTCF needed.

Loaded rifles are a no-no, no matter the circumstance.

Unless an SBR, then it's a "firearm".

    A minor clarification:
18 Pa.C.S. § 6108: Carrying firearms on public streets or public property in Philadelphia
    * No person shall carry a firearm, rifle or shotgun at any time upon the public streets or upon any public property in a city of the first class unless:
o (1) such person is licensed to carry a firearm; or
o (2) such person is exempt from licensing under section 6106(b) of this title (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license).

above is correct and good info

As far as long guns, I believe you can (outside of philly), carry long guns openly or concealed, loaded or unloaded without a LTCF

I'm sure I'll be corrected soon if not

    That is correct.

In a vehicle it is illegal, whether licensed or not, to have a loaded long gun. On foot, except in Philly or during a declared emergency, no license is needed to carry a long gun, whether loaded or unloaded, openly or concealed.

Typically LTCF's do not have any bearing on long guns. However they do in a City of the First Class(Philly) and during an emergency declaration.

SBR's aren't long guns. They aren't a "sporting firearm" under federal law so they have no connection to handguns or long guns. They are just "firearms" under the NFA, and "firearms" under the PA UFA.

No, but they are rifles. I was responding to the statement that "Loaded rifles are a no-no, no matter the circumstance."
