pistols that can be converted to 22LR?
I see that an EAA Witness Polymer pistol can be converted from 9mm to 22LR. that sure would help hold down the cost of practice. I know nothing about EAA or the Witness but am looking for a carry pistol and converting to 22LR would be a nice feature all other things being equal.
I recall seeing others that can be converted as well, but my internal Rolodex doesn't come up with a name or names. Anyone know of other brands that offer the ability to convert to 22LR?

Re: pistols that can be converted to 22LR?
To add to the list, SIG P220s have a .22 conversion kit available for them. Just about any CZ 75 series will accept their Kadet .22 conversion kit. I will second the Marvel kit that Lycan mentions. Mine is threaded for a can. And just to be complete (about that which I know), there are conversion kits out there that will turn an AR chambered for 5.56mm or .223 into a .22 LR. While these are usually found as rifles, there are some pistol versions floating around out there.
ETA: Here is a short video of a CZ with a Kadet kit and a suppressor.

Re: pistols that can be converted to 22LR?
I won't answer for the 226, but for my P220, the conversion takes a little less than 30 seconds. Lock the slide back, rotate the slide lock around, ease the slide foward, pull the trigger (this has to do with the short reset trigger on my model) and remove the slide. Reverse the process to install the .22 kit.
All the controls remain the same. The only difference is the weight of the gun (aluminum slide vs steel), the recoil, and the cost. In my opinion, it is well worth the expense, which will be rapidly recouped - depending on how much shooting you do.

Another alternative is a Taurus revolver. They have a lot of nice ones chambered in .22 lr that are well worth the couple hundred bucks they cost. Plenty of them available in stainless too, not that much more expensive.

"Another alternative is a Taurus revolver."
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have a .22 revolver, not as elegant as that Taurus. It's an old Hi-Standard 9-shot that came to me from family. In particular I'd like to end up with a carry pistol that I can afford to shoot more often than I might if paying for 9mm.
I read good things about CZ products in general. The service version is too large for CC but I'll see what available in more compact models.
