I want to see some home made camo jobs
Like the title says I want to see some home made camo paint jobs. I am thinking of making my mosin into a long range shooter and cant decide if i want to make it camo or all black. Any info on how you painted it would be helpful. I have never painted a gun before. Thanks in advance

My first try at camo.
I would rather die in a shootout than get assassinated in a "gun free zone"

Re: I want to see some home made camo jobs
Thanks for the photos Keep them coming. i assume you have to make sure all the oil is off the gun before paint right. How did you get all the old oil off and did you need to scuff up the finish to get primer to stick or did you use a self etching primer? thanks

Re: I want to see some home made camo jobs
On my AR I just used regular gun cleaner to get the oils off prior to painting. I didn't do any sanding nor used primer. So far I have little to no wear issues.
My next paint job will be a bake-on duracoat (durabake) that i'm planning on doing to my glock 26. Those instructions call for a light sanding with 600 grit sandpaper.

Re: I want to see some home made camo jobs
This was my first attempt. I wasn't too happy with it after a while I took it to get duracoated GAP cammo.
First cut out your cammo pattern. I found masking tape on wax paper to work. Then peel the patterns off wax paper.
Then paint the whole gun one color, add more patterns, paint it another color, add the last patterns, and finish with the last color.
This was my ATTEMPT at woodland camo...

older pic. ignore the scope and the suppressor, they were just added and not given the appropriate treatment yet. Somewhere I have a picture of it in the grass but can't locate it.
here it is...behind the 22....

Re: I want to see some home made camo jobs
This isn't exactly "camo" unless you want to blend in with a rock, but I thought I'd post it up anyway since I was happy to find any info I could on paint before I did mine.
Here's the whole thread too:
