Re: Anyone recognize this caliber?!
The rounds look like 7.62x51 IIRC. The links appear to be for the m60 machine gun or the 240 bravo. The rounds are blanks. I also could be wrong!
Any head stamps on the rounds?Aggies Coach Really ??? Take off the tin foil bro.

If I had to guess I would say the above poster is correct. I've spent a good bit of time picking them up off the unimproved roads of the Gap...

Correcto mungo, blank rounds for a 7.62 machine gun, US, either 240 or M60 but I would say more of 240 based on how clean they look and the links, which are slightly different than the ones used for linked ammo in the M60.

Re: Anyone recognize this caliber?!
The blanks for the 240B are actually crimped, not extended/plugged like these M60 blanks. (Although you can fire these in either). The Army has declared a moratoreum on firing of blanks in the '240 because the barrels warp without the through flow of air to cool them.(Prevented by the blank adaptor) The links in the pic are as viewed from the bottom, by the way.....

Well thats not fun, how are we supposed to train with them now?
I guess they will just have to shell out even more money for more range time for us soldier folk who depend on these weapons to save lives....
Probably cheaper than replacing 10,000+ barrels a year though....
