Re: 1989 Firearms Documents - York County
Very interesting. May I ask where you found this?
Edit: Was the true cost of a LTCF ever $7.50? I thought the recent changes were from $5.00 up to $19, then to $25 ?
As a side note, even when the cost was originally set at $0.50, Sheriffs had issues following the law. I remember reading an article from decades ago about firearm owners in Washington County(?) upset because the sheriff was overcharging.
I guess some things never change.
Edit 2: Found it.
So I guess $7.50 might have been the correct amountLast edited by anonymouse; January 27th, 2011 at 01:31 PM.

That's rather interesting. I like how they have the make and caliber and model of the firearm, very similar to the NY state permit. I wish they were still that cheap.

Re: 1989 Firearms Documents - York County
On my first one (1977), in the area where it asks "Make & Model of Weapon", the sheriif's dept simply inserted "Any legal firearm".
When permits were "May Issue" as opposed to today's "Shall Issue", most rural counties would issue with no problem. It was the counties with population centers that gave you a hard time. Also, this pre-dated pre-emption so Philadelphia did have its own set of laws governing LTCF's (some of the police there are still acting under those rules. LOL).

We've actually had some form of preemption since 1974:

Re: 1989 Firearms Documents - York County
I found and added a copy of the Local PD Background Check Form that was used at the time.... Get the Form from the County Sheriff, take it to your Local PD for the records check, then back to the County Sheriff's Office to make the actual application....
Seems that some counties (like Montgomery) still do this....???....
Notice that it says at the bottom:
No fingerprints were taken, as they are no longer required.

That application was signed on my 18th birthday. Looks like it only took 16 days to be approved.
