AK Trigger Issues... help?
I just bought my first ak at the show in lebanon last weekend and I'm having an issue with the trigger.
Load the mag, Rack the operating handle, pull the trigger, gun goes boom. But when i go to pull the trigger again, it's not in position to be fired. I have to simply click the trigger foward and then it works fine.
Looking inside, the hammer get hung up on the sear, and holds the trigger back. Is it possible my sear spring is to strong or that my hammer spring is too weak? Any other suggestions? I can't get it to do this when I manually cycle the action, but it happens almost every time i fire it. Any help would be awesome.Read The 5000 Year Leap

Are your hammer spring legs on the trigger? Or are the legs crossed/askew?
The trigger isn't reseting after every shot? or just the first one? one mag or all mags? gun make/trigger group(century, tapco g2, arsenal)? The resident Saiga snob

Take everything apart and reassemble it. The minimum wage assembler guy in the importers basement probably just broke up with the test firing guys sister and they were arguing about child support instead of doing their jobs.

Re: AK Trigger Issues... help?
its a romanian WASR-10/63 imported by CAI. It has a tapco G2 TG. Comparing it to the pics on the pdf in the last post, it looks like it has all its parts...
I found I'm able to make it do what it does at the range if i lock the hammer into the sear with my thumb, and then release the trigger. the hammer spring doesnt seem to have the strength it needs to reset the trigger.
Can I adjust that spring? or does it need to be replaced?Read The 5000 Year Leap

My Century is the same way. Are you holding the trigger back after the shot is fired? I found if I did that I would have the same problem you have. Letting it go immediately after the shot is fired it's fine.

Re: AK Trigger Issues... help?
It still shouldnt do that. I found a burr on the hammer where it catches the sear disconnecter so I filed that off and I think that may have done the trick. I'll let you know when I get back from the range tomorrow.

Re: AK Trigger Issues... help?
There was an issue with disconnector springs in tapco trigger groups at one time that caused something like this. The hole the spring sits in was too deep on those.

Any word on this OP? I'm thinking of replacing my trigger group to fix this problem but I'd have no idea how to go about that if I did.

Re: AK Trigger Issues... help?
Watch the release with AKs. Some triggers can be awfully doubly depending upon the geometry of the FCG innards.

Re: AK Trigger Issues... help?
So I smoothed over the part of the hammer that catches the disconector sear and that seems to have done the trick. The trigger did get stuck once out of 25, but thats a hell of a lot better than every single time... I think I'll take it down a bit more, then re-blue it. BTW, I really like this Ak and it wont be my last...
