You can get kits from traditions, though I was warned to stay away from them. There are a couple of other companys that make them. Just search around the web for them.

How much you're looking to spend is the question. Even some flintlock rifle kits alone can run over $1,000 and are advanced projects even from that stage. I've heard good things about the Pedersoli Blue Ridge rifles cabelas sells, but they're also not strictly historically accurate. Something else you might try if you just want a decent gun is fishing around on the traditional muzzleloading forum and on the trading post on frontierfolk.net - it's possible that you might be able to find a kit at a reasonable price on there too.

The Kit Muzzleloaders are not the bargain they once were, I bought mine back in the early 70s, a little over a hundred dollars back then , for a new TC Hawkins flinter.
I think the Lyman’s are up around $500.00 to start now.
You can pick up a used one pretty cheap.
The main thing to remember about a flintlock, you need almost as much practice with them as you do a bow, that pan powder goes off a few inches from your face, its pretty tough holding on your target, especially on a damp day with a hang fire.

Hands down I'd go to this shop to get advice or to purchase your parts. Very knowledgeable people when it comes to flintlocks and early guns. Dixon's Muzzleloading They also do a fair every year with lots of vendors dedicated to early firearms and lifestyle, it's free to walk around and highly recommend checking it out.

Go to Dixon's and see what they have. You can also buy kits from Dixie Gun Works. My dad bought a Pennsylvania Rifle kit from them years ago and put it together. Beautiful rifle.

The nice thing about doing a kit gun is, you can make it however you want. You can blue it, you can have it coated, you can do whatever kind of stain you want on the stock, and if you are handy with a woodburner or soldering iron, or a small carving chisel/knife you can cut custom designs and stuff like that into it. Not to mention, then you have the satisfaction of having built a useful hunting tool.
