Reloading .45 Colt - any one do it and sell?

thinking about getting a single action .45 colt but the cost of factory ammo is perplexingly high.

is there anyone in the lehigh valley that reloads and sells the reloads less than the $30+ per box?

this is the one thing that is really holding me up from making the purchase.

I can't see too many people loading for someone other than a close friend or family. Too much liability involved.

This might be the right time to look into reloading for yourself. It is a useful and gratifying hobby, and makes it much easier to shoot whenever you want to.

Lots of good info here for beginners and the experienced.

30+ per box? You've got to be kidding. Walmart has Federals for $16 and change and russian Tula for $14.97. Decent self defence ammo will cost much more, of course, but you don't need to be plinking with it and it's VERY bad idea to use reloads for self defence.

I believe he's referring to .45 LC, not ACP, since he referred to a single-action pistol, in which it is a popular caliber.

I believe there are excise taxes on the manufacturing of ammunition, so yes, it is exactly like brewing alcohol for resale.

Wow, thanks for the reply's and didn't mean to stir anything up.

I'm talking about .45 colt (LC). I do have a 45 acp and yes am fully aware the costs on the acp are relatively reasonable.

did alot of research on reloading yesterday and am probably going to learn how to do that. question - haven't yet researched this part yet - any place in the valley that sells reloading supplies?
probably going to go with the lee kit or press and die set. primers and bullets can get on the internet but not sure if I would go that route for powder.
Time to get a book on reloading......
