    Default No Carry to Heinz field?

    So by a series of small wonders I scored two tickets to go to the game tomorrow. My sister lives in Dayton and is driving in for the game. I am stoked as all get out.
    I checked the Heinz field website and well...

    Guests at Heinz Field are asked to cooperate with security personnel to ensure the safety of allguests. In addition, fans who wear or bring heavy clothing, jackets, or blankets will be asked to open such items for inspection and pat down.
    The following items are not permitted:

    * bags
    * back packs
    * coolers (hard/soft sided)
    * thermoses
    * large purses (larger than 8 ½ x 11)
    * cans
    * bottles
    * flasks
    * alcoholic beverages
    * laser pointers
    * strollers
    * video/movie cameras
    * professional camera equipments (lenses longer than 6 in)
    * tripods
    * audio recording equipment
    * banners/signs on poles
    * weapons
    * noisemakers
    * wearing or displaying any apparel or signage with profane/abusive language.
    * Any other item deemed dangerous and/or inappropriate

    Small purses, small camera cases, binocular cases and diaper bags will be permitted, however, all items that do not pass security must be returned to vehicles.
    Heinz Field is NOT responsible for items left at gates.

    So really no carry to the game???

    Your firearm is not a weapon... it is a self-defense tool

    you could get a gun into a stillers game if you really put some effort into it.

    however, you cannot just carry it normally.

    they do a much more thorough pat down than they do at any other sporting events (or concerts, etc.) i have been to. also, be prepared to empty your pockets.

    it sucks. but stillers games are still fun. it just takes about 15 minutes or so to stop being royally pissed off after getting through the gate.

    it is owned by the "Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County". in my book, at least, they are a county/city entity and, thus, covered by preemption, but i dunno if that has ever been addressed in court.

    i think they can probably get away with barring guns anyway, though, by leasing it to the steelers for the event and then the steelers ban bringing weapons to their private event. but, that is pure speculation.

    In my experience, it would be very easy to get into Heinz field if you put a bit of effort into concealing

    The Sports & Exposition Authority, which owns the stadium, appears to be a STATE entity and, as such, is not preempted by 6120.

    Furthermore the Steelers, as lessees, would also have the power to prohibit firearms contingent upon there being no disallowance from doing so by terms of the lease.

    Bottom line - the firearms prohibition is either:
    1. established by a non-pre-empted state agency; OR
    2. established by a private corporation as lessee of the property.
    and as such a valid prohibition.

    Title 16 P.S. Counties (Refs & Annos)
    Chapter 2. Second Class County Code (Refs & Annos)
    Article XXV-A. Sports and Exhibition Authority (Refs & Annos)
    § 5505-A. Purposes and powers; general
    (a) Every Authority incorporated under this article shall be a public body, corporate and politic, exercising public powers of the Commonwealth as an agency thereof, and shall be for the purpose of acquiring, holding, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating, owning, leasing, either in the capacity of lessor or lessee, public auditoriums, the purpose and interest of this article being to benefit the people of the Commonwealth by, among other things, increasing their commerce and prosperity and promoting their educational, cultural, physical, civic, social and moral welfare.

    I guess it's nice of them to put THAT in there. Better than "...will be confiscated and ticket holder subject to a beat down by the police."

    I've never been to a game. I've been there for "Ribfest" a few times, and the same rules apply. Even though Ribfest is held outside, "around" the stadium, they have entry restricted to specific "checkpoints".
    My wife and her friend were required to open their purses for inspection, while I was just waved on through, with a .380 on my side under my untucked t-shirt. I figured if anyone noticed, I'd just go lock it in the car.
    I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

    I wouldn't waste the time to try and bring my LCTF pistol into Heinz Field. They searched my friends 20 year old daughter's purse and made her take a nail file, aluminum water bottle (she is into the environment) and tiny Swiss Army knife back to the car- which was a long walk.

    They patted me down fairly well- first time ever- as I'm a tall fat guy and they usually don't touch me! ( Never been searched entering PNC park) If I'd had either my pocket holster or IWB holster they'd have felt the gun.
