remington 700 sps tactical sa or la?
Just bought a Remington 700 SPS tactical in .308 and I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether this is a short action or long action. I want to know while looking for a new stock.

thanks. As of now I'm thinking a bell and carlson a5. But if I happen to have an extra $1,000 at some point in time I would be sweet to pick up an Accuracy International Chassis System.

Keep in mind the "bottom metal" on your SPS is plastic.
If you factor in the cost of replacing that cheap plastic with quality metal (or a magazine system and getting the stock inletted for it) the price of an AICS becomes a bargain.

A Remington SPS is an entry level gun anyhow. I can totally see how they'd do that. They are $550 rifles that shoot rather well for what they are, gotta cut corners somewhere. Long range shooting is not cheap, the more accurate you go the more money you spend, with less results for the dollar the more accurate you go. CDI makes some pretty decent bottom metal that takes AICS magazines, depending on the rifle, it's a simple swap. If you are looking for a solid built rifle for a decent price, look into an FN PBR.
