    Default New gun owner/Philadelphia Question

    Hey everyone,

    Great resource here.

I'm a new gun and about to apply for my LTCF in Philadelphia. I'm not aware of any valid grounds for denial, but from what I'm hearing, Philly can be a crap shoot.

In any event, assuming that I'm denied a license in Philly would I still be okay to travel to the range with an unloaded gun in the trunk of my car for practice? Is it worth just apply for a AZ or FL now in case I get denied?

    Thanks,
    Josh.

Apply for your PA LTCF through the Philly PD and see what happens. It is a great idea to have a PA LTCF, if denied for illegal reasons get one from another state and fight for your PA LTCF.

Yes you can drive to and from the range with the firearm locked and unloaded in your trunk.

    Enjoy.

And since I just learned this (and it's still in my clipboard...) I'll paste it in!

"Loaded." A firearm is loaded if the firing chamber, the nondetachable magazine or in the case of a revolver, any of the chambers of the cylinder contain ammunition capable of being fired. In the case of a firearm which utilizes a detachable magazine, the term shall mean a magazine suitable for use in said firearm which magazine contains such ammunition and has been inserted in the firearm or is in the same container or, where the container has multiple compartments, the same compartment thereof as the firearm.

It is worth getting the AZ, FL and/or UT licenses/permits for the added reciprocity as well

AZ is easy to get (hint hint)

Especially Delaware and Ohio. Neither recognizes a PA LTCF. Of course NJ, NY, and MD are "out of bounds" regardless.
