Alabama carry on Arizona permit

I just used my Arizona permit to carry in Alabama. I was glad I had it. When I flew back from Alabama, they asked me at the ticketing counter if I wanted to carry the gun on the plane or check it in my luggage. TWICE.

Noticed a couple funny things at both MOB and Allentown airports. First, they both wanted to see the gun. It had a mag in it both times. They did not ask to check the chamber and did not ask me to check the chamber. So why did they want to see it? Just to make sure I actually HAD a gun? Strange.

Also, both airports needed my key to open the luggage that contained my pistol case. MOB actually cut the lock off to get into the luggage. This is strange because the outer luggage was locked with a TSA approved lock. Over the past few years I've traveled to various destinations and they have left notes in my bag that my bag was searched both in Allentown and when departing the destination airports about 90% of the time. So they always got inside my bags wherever I had been before and now they can't get in without the key. Strange.

They asked if you wanted to carry your gun on the plane or check it with luggage? I wonder what would have happened if you took them up on that offer?
