    Justcntry,
Knight gave you the date. Yours is a 1st Model - transfer bar safety system wasn't installed in the H&R revolvers until the 1972-73 period and then it was done across the board.
Experience is a great teacher - glad no one was injured.

Howdy folks... Hope I'm doing this right.

So, I've got this H&R 922 (serial# s8844) wanted to know a bit more about it. Mostly it's value... It's in good shape, and a reliable shooter. (The Snattlerakes hate it).

Mint condition - probably around $200-$250. Most found today are in the $100-$200 range. Hard to tell without seeing it.

Your gun was made in 1956.

Nice little relatively inexpensive revolvers, IMO.

I'd be glad to find one in decent shape for myself as an ammo waster someday when the .22 ammo is back in season.

H&R's, and Iver Johnson for that matter, are often overlooked.

People's ignorance and snobbery get in the way of having a good, reliable, and accurate .22 revolver.

Everyone knows that the S&W K22 is the top dog in the 22 revolver world, but what they don't realize is that the H&R 999 is nipping at the K22's heals for that top spot. However, like the K22, the 999's prices have been climbing.

I also have a H & R Arms 922 that I need to know more about. I inherited it from my father who passed in 2010. The serial number on my 922 is J3475

"J" should be 1949 I believe. I have a few 922's, nice classic H&R. Not worth a lot, but nice quality old gun.
