Re: dunham's selling m1 carbines
They look like they were pulled from the long-lost bunkers that were missed when Blue Sky imported them back in the '80s. Bought an Inland back then for like $150.00 at Woolworth's.
They were too expensive to plink with back then, and the ammo hasn't gotten cheaper ever since.
I'd rate them as rattier than Service Grade, but I'm sure they scrub up OK.

sleezyrider,
I asked to see one at the Monroeville store... there wasn't a half an inch of that stock that didn't have a scratch, gouge, or dent. Pretty rough shape, but yes, "originals", not reproductions.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

probably import marked, i'd be willing to bet on that one. they more than likely rattle like hell if you shock one....not a good thing when they're that loose.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: dunham's selling m1 carbines
I stopped in at a Dunham's in Ohio on Sunday. Seen a guy ask to look at one. The guy opened the bolt and got the most disgusted look. Handed back to the guy and walked out. The bolt was rusted up real bad and the stock was beat to death. Dang near fell over when I saw the price.

Re: dunham's selling m1 carbines
FWIW, I was at a Dunhams tonite and BS'ing with another customer while the clerk was busy.
The customer told me his friend came by earlier today to see an M1 carbine that Dunhams has in the current ad - the Dunham's gun manager himself took the carbine off the rack and into the back as it was in such bad shape to sell.
We never did get to see this week's version.

Re: dunham's selling m1 carbines
I looked at 3 of them in Harrisburg yesterday. Overall they would make good shooters, all Inland 44 barrels, none swallowed a bullet. One had the barrel ground a bit to fit the bayo lug. With a little cleanup these rifles would turn out well. No rattles either. This was Dunhams on Union Deposit Rd, not Mechanicsburg.
