Default BHTC 2 Day Advanced Tactical Carbine

    Merry Christmas!

We have run several initial and intermediate 1 and 2 day Carbine and Kalashnikov courses, and are responding to the student feedback we received with a two day advanced level carbine course.

I'd actually love to have five.

Acceptance into the course is based on having completed prior professional level carbine/rifle training either with us, or with another school or instructor. LE/MIL service is accepted. We may accept extensive civilian competition experience as well. Contact us if you are unsure.

We will have several carbine courses this year that are at an initial or intermediate level, so please do not attempt to vault yourself over the fundamentals into an advanced level course if you are unprepared.

We are serious about holding students to a higher safety & training standard than in previous courses. Not only is an advanced course furnished to instruct on more challenging concepts and techniques, but our expectations are going to be higher in terms of the accuracy, handling skills, mental focus, attention span, and most importantly safety and adherence to instructions. We are equally serious about arriving with the proper gear, in the proper condition and state of readiness.

We are limiting attendance to around 20 students. Shooters who trained with us before have had an opportunity to pre-register already. There are 10 spots left.

Against the background painted above, we are going to be working on:

    # Basic Handling skills (loading, reloading techniques, press-checks, malfunction clearing)
    # BRM Review (Basic Rifle Marksmanship)
    # Zeroing - How/Where to zero, and why
    # Equipment choices
    # Properly organizing and laying out your loadout
    # Stance, presentation, maintaining SA and control before, during, and after target engagement
    # Multidirectional engagement drills from standing, kneeling, and prone
    # Shooting positions, including Urban/Rice Paddy/SBU/Rollover prone variations
    # Making the most of cover
    # Engaging moving targets
    # Transition techniques to secondary firearm
    # Effective cornering with a carbine
    # Rapid Engagement drills
    # White light - Deployment and avoiding pitfalls
    # Transitioning to support side, and making it work
    # Shooting effectively on the move
    # Introduction to longer distance target engagement
    # Engagement distances for this course will be from 3 to 400 yards.
    # Moderate physical fitness (movement, assuming shooting positions) required.

Full details, online registration, required and recommended equipment, etc. are on our website:

Thanks, and if you can't make this one, please check our schedule/calendar. It is updated for 2011 for matches we are shooting or conducting, and professional instruction as well.

Hey, didn't want to find your older post so i'm putting this here. As the recipient of DGG9's free spot in the 1 day course that preceded this in the fall, i just wanted to give fargo some props on putting together a good, professional basic carbine course. For myself it was a good skills refresher and i was happy to get it on the cheap.

While not may of us were shooting Kalashnikov's, I do appreciate fargo taking the time to address The Avtomat. Even if it'n not your platform of choice, everyone should be familiar with one. I was happy to be there rocking it soviet style.

Basically, don't hesitate to take a class from this outfit.
