Default Paying too much for a Taurus 85 .38

I have on order a Taurus 85 UL aluminum and stainless and was wondering if the $440.00 price tag is too high?

Yes that's high. I bought a NIB S&W 442 no lock for $419. I believe my LGS has them for $359 or $389 not sure. You can even find these used on GB for $200-$250

Way too much for a Taurus revolver. That is the price range for a Smith and Wesson J frame, which is a comparable revolver.

The fit and finish and attention to detail of the Smith and Wesson revolvers far exceeds the Taurus revolvers in every example I have seen.

    Seriously?

You posted about this a week or so ago and I told you that Grices had Smith 637 Airweights for $399-$50 rebate=$349 and you still went and ordered a Taurus for $440?

Again, Grices has the 85UL in stainless listed for $344.
Even the one with the Pearl grip is only $414 and thats the most expensive one shown.

So yes, you are getting gouged.
It's a hundred miles to Clearfield from Butler out I80, assuming your vehicle gets 20mpg, thats less than $40 worth of gas to get a Smith or the Taurus for less money than you are going to pay now.
Crap, I know a dealer in Indiana, 50 miles form Butler that has the Taurus for $349, start shopping around.

Dude, I gave you advice earlier, I'm not a liar, I'll not respond to any more of your threads, it's apparent it's a colossal waste of time.

I dont think you should be hard on him. His original op asked about the differences between the ultralight and standard frames of the Taurus 85. His name is Taurus 38. Maybe he doesnt want a S&W. This reminds me of posts where a guy might ask weather he should get a Beretta 92 or Sig 226 and people respond with Glock 19.

From what Ive seen that price is almost a hundred dollars high. I know a shop around here that sells the lightweight frame with the gold accents and wood grip for 359. As a matter of fact its where I bought mine.

Yeah $400 for a Taurus 85 even stainless is too much, imo. I think a good price would be around $350-$325. I think you can get a S&W J frame for about $425 or $450. Think about this you won't be able to resale it for anywhere close to that used they run $289-$250, the smith you might get close to that pending quailty at sell time.

I bought mines years ago hammeerliess for $289. It is a very good snubbie.

Being an educated person, I certainly think getting a second, third, or even fourth opinion is the logical alternative to diving into a first opinion and then making a huge mistake...what a huge waste of time that would be!

Paid $300 at a local shop about 2 yrs (or so) ago. Current shop sells it for $319 + tax. Blued, 5 shot, UL. I'd certainly consider a S&W for $350 (after rebate)......
