S&W model 10-11
I just traded for a S&W model 10-11. It looks to be a police trade in cause there is a good amount of holster wear, but I don't mind that. It's a 38 special +P rated barrel 6 shot but I don't relly know any more about them. The serial # is CEKxxxx what year was this made, I can not find anything that gives me that info. Also is this a "K" frame? I think so but I want to be sure before I buy grips for it. Any other info that you may think of is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: S&W model 10-11
Yes, it is a K-frame. In this instance the serial number was not needed to determine its age because engineering changes (the number after the dash - 11 in this case) 11 & 12 were both in 1997 - which means that is your "born-on" date.
Engineering change 11 says: Changes to frame design: Eliminate cylinder stop stud / change to MIM hammer with floating firing pin / MIM trigger / change internal lockworks / tapered barrel.
The above according to the S&W bible - Supica & Nahas

Thanks Bob, where can I get this bible? Is this the same as the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson?
