Cell phones for solders!
All,
I ordered some ammo from Cabela’s and received it today, what I found with the invoice is a plastic bag that states cell phones for soldiers! WHAT GW Bush will not supply phones to the troops to call home!!
What the Hel# are we doing!!

Screw cell phones, let them write home on the back of an MRE sleeve like I had to in '03.

One of our club members just came back from Iraq about 2 months ago. He's against the cell phones for soldiers program simply because too many of those phones never make it to our guys, it's too easy for the enemy to get their hands on them and use them to detonate IEDs.
Good intentions, bad results.

almost all the phones donated are just recycled. most are verizon or older TDMA phones that wont work over there anyways. the GSM devices are usually beat beyond belief.
actually, it appears that recycling them isn't a panacea either but the program is beyond help and preys on people who want to help the troops.
