What do you mean by 'Slide"? The Receiver? Charging Handle? - You could try Numrich (www.e-gunparts.com) They sometime have Diagrams that will help you figure out what it is you are looking for, To my knowledge the M1 Carbine doesn’t have any parts that would be referred to as a 'Slide'

    good Luck

The official name of the part for an M1 Carbine is "slide" - if you google m1 carbine schematic you will see it. I guess the closest thing would be charging handle if it were an AR or other model. The slide is the actual pc. that has the lever that you pull back to load, and the rest of the part goes forward under the wood.
    Here's a link to a schematic:

    Thanks all !

Well how about that, I never would have Thunk it. I wish you luck, I had a Universal Carbine back in the 80's and from what I can rember, The parts weren't interchangeable with Military Carbines and for some reason it sticks in my head that the 'Slide' wasn't very easily detached like the charging handle is in a M1 Garand or M1A/M14, I seem to recall it took a Piston Nut wrench or something like that.

The Universal I had was cheaply made compared to a Military M1, But I had a lot of fun with it and I don't recall ever having any problems with it, But I got married and needed money for a Washer/Dryer, So I sold it, Wish I still had it as it was my first 'Real' gun.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Thanks ! I have a nice NPM M1 Carbine that I love - but I was given this Universal because of the broken slide. If I can't find a slide, I'll just keep the magazine, some misc. parts that will fit, and use it for a decoration or a paperweight - lol. Thanks for the input !

Numrich has two listed on their site, both sold out:

544870B Operating Slide, Type 1 - For Round Barrel $63.30 SOLD OUT

723950B Operating Slide, Type 2, Nickel - Flat Sided Barrel $63.30 SOLD OUT
Maybe you could try a Google search of those part numbers, or call Numrich and inquire about their source... not sure but it's worth a shot.

Also, it's a long shot but maybe Bill Ricca can get one. Can't hurt to send an email:

Thanks ! I was on numrich and didn't see those listed ! I just emailed bill ricca too. I'm thinking my only chance might be to find someone with a trashed rifle but still a good slide ! Will hit Harrisburg gunshow on the 11/12th - maybe I'll get lucky.
